Obsydian customers reap significant benefits from the product’s sound architectural design and rich functionality.

Increased developer productivity

Obsydian’s automatic generation of "Designed for Microsoft BackOffice" logo-compliant code buffers application developers from the compliance rules as well as the complexities of low-level coding. This double insulation allows developers to focus on the business model and delivers significant improvements in productivity.

Enterprise success

The combination of Obsydian’s model-based approach, large-scale reusable objects, enterprise workgroup structure, and automatic generation of BackOffice compliant code, ensures that applications can be developed for enterprise-scale Windows NT-based solutions.

Responsive and efficient applications

For any application to deliver tangible business benefits, it must truly reflect the nature, rules and structure of the business. With many application development environments, this is extremely difficult to achieve. Obsydian is different because the business rules are mapped tightly into the applications. It’s full life-cycle approach ensures that the very same business rules identified and modeled at the beginning of the development cycle appear as logic in the generated applications.

Dramatically curbed maintenance costs.

Maintenance accounts for the largest of all information technology costs¾up to 80 percent, according to some estimates. With Obsydian, you can reduce application maintenance cost significantly by providing a model-based environment flexible enough to cope with the pace of change dictated by today’s business world. Because the application design is held in a high-level business model, changes to a design component automatically ripple through to related components, reducing the maintenance effort. Obsydian enables application developers to focus on refining the business model and application design rather than maintaining code.

International applications made easy with national language support

Because applications are increasingly deployed across national boundaries, national language support is crucial. Obsydian supports a wide variety of national languages, representative of the use of Synon tools and technologies in more than 80 countries around the world.

To succeed in today’s fast-changing business environment, organisations must have the ability to rapidly build and maintain applications that enable the competitive edge.

Enterprise workgroup environments

Obsydian enables the BackOffice family to handle the needs of enterprise application development by effective management of workgroup development, typically required in large-scale projects. Obsydian’s configuration management facilities are used to maintain applications that may have multiple versions and release levels, different target platforms, and national language implementations.
