Recaping 2001 and looking forward to 2002

At the MetaTV Global Summit 2002, held at the San Rafael Civic Center auditorium, I gave a 25 minute live presentation which was captured on video. The video is split into 3 parts below in order to fit within the 10 min limit per video on YouTube. I am particularly proud of this presentation because 9/11 was still in everyone’s mind. We had averted disaster by dealing with our CEO’s arrest in the Summer. Basically having to try and survive with major press, customer, partner and investor damage control. The economy was definitely now in a recession and we needed the next phase of the company’s operating and marketing strategy to be thought out and presented.

My job was to formulate that strategy and to sell it to our employees. There is a healthy dose of why we did what we did in 2001, so that everyone could understand the expenditures we made and what it brought us. And where I felt we needed to move to in order to be successful in 2002 in this presentation.

Again I am very proud of this moment in time, because the pressures of 2001 were as personally and professionally intense as I could ever imagined and I believe that what I ended up presenting really represents my strategic thinking, character and dedication to MetaTV and every other company I have worked for before and since.

This was also the first time I used the concept of Indiana Jones music to get everyone pumped up and excited (I would later use it again for Siperian for Masters 2008, but this time with video and in a much more advanced way). Back in 1997/98 at Synon,  I used the movie themed presentation concept which started with the Mission Impossible presentation at the internal European sales kickoff in the UK. The continued tradition of using powerful emotive experiences associated with familar images and music (from movies or other memorable tunes) is a strategy which I used to this day.

This shockwave file shows the messages I wove into the music in order to inform and entertain the MetaTV team .
